The Gardener's Tour
£50 per person per day
Whether you have a passion for gardening or just want to have a relaxing day visiting some of the Lake District's Gardens, join us as we take you on a journey of discovery, smell the aromas, see the stunning colour of the flowers, take a stroll in a walled garden where Beatrix Potter once stayed, explore a matured Lake District garden within the setting of a grand hall.
Full Day Tour: Itinerary In the morning after pick up, we head to Holehird Gardens. The garden is run by volunteers with the aim of promoting knowledge of the cultivation of alpine and herbaceous plants, shrubs and trees, especially those suited to Lakeland conditions. National Collections of Astilbe, Hydrangea and Polystichum (ferns). Set on the fellside with stunning views over Windermere Lake, the walled garden gives protection to mixed borders whilst alpine houses protect an always colourful array of tiny gems. Consistently voted among the top gardens in Britain and Europe.
We then take you to Fell Foot Park for lunch, set on the southern shores of Lake Windermere. A typical late Victorian garden is host to a variety of Rhododendrons, Oaks and Pines, a perfect place to stop and relax. After Lunch we then move on to Holker Hall on the Furness Penninsula, home to Lord and Lady Cavendish. The gardens have grown and matured to offer one of Lakeland's most beautiful displays of flowers, fountains, shrubs and trees in an immaculate setting with the backdrop of a grand hall and the Lakeland fells. Finally we will wander back to the hotel, with a bootfull of flowers…
