Beatrix Potter's Legacy Tour

A tour that follows the life of the much loved author within the Lake District, starting from her early adulthood, we visit some of the most loved views and places where she gained the inspiration for her books. Look into the lives of some of the people who inspired her to become Beatrix Potter the author, as we follow in the footsteps of one of England’s most renowned writers.

Full Day Tour: Itinerary
Once we pick you up we head for Wray Castle, a place the Potter Family visited which could have been the turning point in Beatrix Potters life. We explore its history and the impact it had on young Beatrix. After this we head north to Derwentwater to another place where Beatrix's Family visited and is also the place of inspiration for Mr Mcgregor's garden gate, Squirrel Nutkin and Miss Tiggywinkle also many of her sketches which were inspiration for further books. After Derwent Water we take a look down onto Derwent Water from Ashness Bridge and Surprise View. From here we then drop down into the old market town of Keswick for lunch.

After lunch take a drive to Far Sawrey and on to Hill Top where Beatrix Potter created many of the books and where the next stage of her life began. From Hill Top we take a short drive next to Esthwaite Water, the setting of Jeremy Fisher and onto Hawkshead, the old town which dates back to Norse times. It is here where Beatrix Potter's husband, William Heelis, ran his accountancy business. We then travel to our final destination and the final days of Beatrix Potter, Tarn Hows, where we look at what she accomplished in her life and what she gave back to the country and the respect that she had for conserving England’s wildlife and natural scenery.
